On March 20, 2019, acting President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev proposed to rename the capital of Kazakhstan to Nur-Sultan in honor of Elbasy Nursultan Nazarbayev at a joint meeting of the Parliament.
Deputies of both houses of Parliament unanimously voted for the renaming.
Consequently, on March 23, 2019, a decree was signed on renaming the city of Astana to Nur-Sultan — the capital of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Based on this, the CityPASS Kazakhstan project also renames the Astana Pass tourist card to Nur-Sultan Pass, in honor of the new name of the capital of Kazakhstan.
Updated sets of tourist cards in points of sale will appear in points of sale from next week.
